Dear Aunty Clara,
5:00 Saturday

Speaking of how fast V-mail goes reminds me that an order or a bulletin was published today saying that heretofore our mail had gone down to New Cal to be micro-filmed but since the means for processing could now be available here, the time for delivery would be cut down by the two days. That's okay, eh?

Well, instead of going down to supper this evening, I decided to go across the Engineer Bowl to the removed Canteen and feast with the boys this evening. I survived over my own bread rations, two cans of sardines, a bottle of malt and the egg-beater. One sardine sandwich was enough for me, but they were regular show hounds and after finishing up the sardines they opened up a can of turkey and made short work of it. Since the sandwiches were out of the way, we went in for the drinks of malted milk with the egg-beater. The fellows all appreciate that mixer and you can be sure that it is one thing which you sent to me that has already proven its worth over & over again.
