"Dear Sarge:

The heat wave was at its heatest just when the Republican convention was in Chicago. The temperature went down the very night it ended. Which reminds me, I wonder why they don't have the Stadium air conditioned? Or did the Democrats shut off the cooling system? I'm asking you, or just wondering out loud, but maybe I'll find out about that. Anyway, it would be a good idea, if they did install it if they haven't got air conditioning.

Another reason why it is good to have a job where you can come home for lunch is because if you gotta go, you can go on your own private seat, instead of a germ infested "out" house in a gas station or restaurant. Also, in the morning, if you feel nature's call is in the offing, you don't have to rush out to catch a street-car or train, but stick around a while until the call is answered.

The next time I go to Cicero (July 3rd) I'll have to make notes after reading your letters, so I can comment on some of the things you write about. I hurry to read the letters, see what is new and then by the time I have time to write, I have forgotten most of the contents and then just write one of these things and the first thing I know, here I am, at the bottom of the page, wishing you good luck, and the best of health.

I am your

Uncle Jack
